Born in Montreal, Quebec in 1961.

McIntyre has received a Bachelor of Fine Arts form Concordia University (Montreal) in 1999, a Bachelor of Education form York University (Toronto) in 2005, and a Master of Fine Arts from Plymouth University (UK, August 2013).  He has been an active teacher in visual-arts since 2000 in a variety of Canadian institutions such as the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Toronto District School Board. He is now teaching in the US at the Morris School District (Morristown NJ). McIntyre has taken part in numerous exhibits since 1990's, he has been active internationally, since 2013 exhibiting in Europe, Canada, and the US where he currently lives and works.

His early work was, and continues to be, informed by mythology as a latent social force.  In particular, Catholicism, which he was born into, was the catalyst that compelled questions, and necessitated exploration through art. With themes of gender, ritual, and diversity, the work, at times, appropriates, explores alternative interpretations.  His work examines religion as a practice, and belief systems as part of integrated cultural experience.

Since early in his career McIntyre researched a wide variety of mediums including installation, encaustic painting, video, photography, etc.  Since 2013, he has had a particular focus on using video as a medium of choice.  In 2018 he was selected for the Project Anywhere 2019 Global Exhibits Program.  Project Anywhere is a partnership collaboration between the Centre of Visual Art (University of Melbourne) and Parsons Fine Art (Parsons School of Design, The New School).  His project, Signifiers, was shown in Berlin, New York (Rhinecliff), and in Japan (Niigata).  He will present Signifiers at the biennial conference Anywhere and Elsewhere at Parsons Fine Art in New York City, in March 2020.
